4-H Fourward Curriculum

The Barbados 4-H Foundation will offer its young 4-H members opportunities to engage in projects and activities relating to at least two of the four subject areas within their 4-H Fourward Program. The Fourward Program is the name of the program which all 4-Hers will be enrolled in once they join a 4-H club. Each club will offer at least two of the four areas of concentration of the Fourward Program. Learn more about the Fourward Program and our activities for Youth Development below.

Fourward Program Overview

The 4-H Fourward Program consists of four pillars of learning including: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Healthy Lifestyle Skills, Leadership and Citizenship, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Contact our 4-H Office to get support in selecting and implementing activities from our new 4-H Fourward Curriculum.

Agriculture and Natural Resources

4-H-ers will be introduced to the basic scientific principles behind crop systems, livestock systems, "green" technologies, agribusiness, and sustainability practices.

Healthy Lifestyle Skills

The three key learning areas included in this subject area are family and community health, food and nutrition, and art and design. 4-Hers will learn how to address their physical, emotional, mental, and social health.

Leadership and Citizenship

This aspect of the program teaches young persons the skills they need to develop into successful leaders and responsible citizens. 4-H members learn skills in the areas of communication, teamwork, professionalism, project management and develop their personal identity.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM)

4-H members have the opportunity to learn more about solar and renewable energy while participating in hands-on activities which will enhance their knowledge of science, engineering, and technology.
